GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Medical Education and Quality Coordinator assumes responsibility for planning, prioritizing, coordinating, managing, and evaluating medical flight crew education for Phoenix Air – Air Ambulance Division. Provides the opportunities for growth and development of medical flight crew through educational opportunities, professional mentorship, industry related research, and other crew development activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participates with medical leadership, Medical Director, and medical flight crews in the ongoing development of an effective and efficient transport system, providing world class medical care to all patients transported by the organization.

• Participates in policy formulation and the overall strategic direction of patient care.

• Responsible for performing ongoing educational needs assessment, analyzing results from the assessment, and developing educational activities to improve the overall delivery of patient care.

• Develop and implement educational classes or activities using multiple media platforms as well as live in the classroom setting to improve the delivery of high-quality patient care.

• Develops and presents orientation for new medical flight crew. 

• Reviews and analyzes quality data to develop organizational as well as individual educational plans to improve care.

• Participates with medical leadership in developing and reviewing departmental policies to assure the organization is meeting local, state, and federal guidelines.

• Participates with medical leadership in assuring compliance with all accreditation organizations.

• Assumes the role of a flight nurse/paramedic to evaluate crewmembers on patient flights.

• Develops and implements an ongoing plan for evaluating and assuring skill competencies of all medical flight crew members.

• Assumes the department’s Quality Committee Leadership role and organizes monthly committee meetings with medical leadership.

• Develops and implements all TQM activities to include data assessment.

• Will participate in all Root Cause Analysis investigations and will present the findings to medical leadership and Medical Director.

• Assume the role of Research Coordinator for the Air Ambulance Division.

• Responsible for partnering with medical leadership in researching new medical care products

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Minimum - associate degree in nursing or education or similar. 

• Preferred - bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing or education or similar. 

License/Certifications

• Valid Georgia RN license or Multi-State RN – or – Certification/License - Nationally Registered 

Paramedic licensed in the United States.

• Registered Nurse National Certification (CFRN, or CTRN), FP-C, or CCP-C (one required).

• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS Instructor Certifications

• TPATC Instructor, preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 10 years RN or EMT-P Experience. 

• Minimum of 5 years Air Medical Experience. 

• 3 years Air Medical Educational Experience preferred.

• 1 years of Quality Improvement Experience preferred.

• Experience with medical transport operations accreditation standards and/or other regulating 

agencies submission and approval process - Preferred. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.

• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

• Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.

• Ability to exercise sound and independent judgement working within guidelines given.

• Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of all related technology and software applications.

• Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

• Ability to establish goals, objectives, and evaluate educational programs.

• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems related to the care of individual patients.

• Ability to conduct a Root Cause Analysis investigation.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to pass a federal background check to obtain a security clearance.

• Must be a US citizen with a valid US Passport.

• Must be vaccinated to meet the entrance requirements of foreign countries. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with assistance. Strength and agility are a must.

• Use hands; reach with hands and arms to perform medical procedures and assessments.

• Speak, hear, and understand verbal instructions.

• Sit for extended periods of time frequently.

• You will need to be comfortable flying and working in confined spaces.

• Stand, walk, climb, or balance on solid ground as well as in flight; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell as needed.

• Vision abilities specifically required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
