The Principal position is a grade 129 on the salary schedule- Placement range: $91,277.00 to $104,317.00.

The Principal serves as the site instructional leader and is responsible for the total operation of the school including the administration and supervision of all phases of the instructional program and management of the facility. The Elementary School Principal shall provide leadership, administrative, and supervisory skills for the educational development of students as well as to promote parent and community involvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and supervise all activities and programs conducted at the building level.
- Evaluate the implementation of programs within the building and provide in-service as needed.
- Evaluate the performance of all staff and provide opportunities for improvement or take other steps as necessary.
- Maintain responsibility for maintenance and proper utilization of facilities.
- Be responsible for the overall achievement, welfare, and conduct of students within the building.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other administrators, employees, parents, and members of the community.
- Ability to promote and maintain strong caregiver and community involvement.
- Monitors teaching to assess alignment and team-specific gaps between written taught, tested curriculum, and student achievement results
- Ability to use an effective process to consistently monitor, review, and revise team goals, action plans, and School Improvement Action Plans (SIAP)
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: · Master’s Degree in Education Leadership, Administration, or a related field · 3 years of elementary teaching experience with experience with inner city and/or minority youth. · Valid Principal certificate |
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: · Previous experience as a principal · Doctoral degree |
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
- Laws, regulations, and interpretations regarding education and student and staff due process.
- Curriculum development, instructional leadership, and implementation of professional learning communities
Skilled in:
- Assisting in the development of the curriculum and in planning and adapting the courses of study to the needs and interests of the children.
- Assessing staff utilization to make appropriate changes to strengthen programs for students.
Ability to:
- Work cooperatively with teachers, supervisory, and related administrative personnel.
- Demonstrate long-range planning.
- Submit accurate reports on a timely basis.
- Organize all staff and student schedules for the best interest of the students.
