POSITION SUMMARY
The RN/LPN Nurse is responsible to provide medical & history screens, overseeing selfadministration program, and providing routine nursing care and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the patient in coordination with the attending physician. He/she is also a member of the Treatment Team and provides input into the development of the Master Treatment Plan.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and BASIC DUTIES:
- Meets with patients requesting to see the doctor to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as required.
- Effectively communicates concerns about patient health to the Medical Director and/or medical provider and follows up as necessary.
- Under the supervision of the Medical Director & Director of Nursing, assists in educating patients about health problems and medical care.
- Facilitates medication education for new patients and for all other patients starting new medications.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medication actions, side effects, and contraindications.
- Participates in obtaining the client’s informed consent for procedures, treatments, and research, as appropriate.
- Supervises and instructs patients in medication self-administration, including the preparation and giving of injections as ordered by the doctor.
- Meets with therapists to provide information about patient medical problems.
- Assists the treatment team in incorporating medical issues into treatment planning.
- Takes verbal orders from the medical providers, documents them in the patient record and carries them out accurately and professionally.
- Initiates and completes nursing assessments within 24 hours of patient admission Documents client progress/regress according to established policies and procedures.
- Provides routine nursing care under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.
- Performs clinical nursing activities in a safe, professional manner.
- Knowledge of Baker Act procedures
- Maintains effective communication regarding client treatment issues between outside medical services and the facility.
- Maintaining compliance with established nursing care standards.
- Maintains client Infection Control Log per Joint Commission standards.
- Maintains equipment logs for Glucose Monitoring and Medication Refrigerator.
- Demonstrates objectivity and maturity under stress.
- Performs in a professional manner and role-model a positive image of mental health.
- Performs additional duties, as deemed by supervisor.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Graduated from a program with a certificate or degree program that prepared for LPN or RN positions.
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience preferred; in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting preferred; in an inpatient, partial hospitalization and/or outpatient setting preferred.
- Licensed to practice nursing in the appropriate state maintains current licensure per state requirements. Maintains current CPR.
- Maintains up to date training in First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other areas as mandated by organizational policies.
- Proficient with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Work is typically performed in an office/medical environment. Employee frequently interacts directly or over the phone with clients and staff members during the workday. Employee may be required to travel between facilities. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position.
