Job Purpose:
The Director of Business Development Custom Fabrication oversees the sales of custom fabrication. This position plays an integral part of the organization. To be successful, you must have a proven track record with sales through developing relationships with customers, have a strategic mindset, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
Description of Essential Duties:
- Selling custom structural and metal fabrication work for both Phoenix fabrication facilities (Avon, IN & Sebree, KY).
- Develop customer relationships and meet customer needs and deadlines.
- Identify target markets that best fit Phoenix’s capabilities and develop a strategic sales plan to sell to those markets.
- Track sales activities each week to show number of contacts, leads, bids, and other relevant data to show activity.
- Meet quarterly and yearly sales quotas.
- Develop customer base, service accounts, obtain orders by calling on existing or potential customers.
- Make sales presentations to large and small groups of potential or existing customers.
- Develop a network of potential contacts and customers.
- Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of Phoenix’s fabrication capabilities.
- Develop and maintain product marketing materials including updates to Phoenix website.
- Obtain and submit orders through the designated Phoenix process.
- Recommend changes in products, services, and policies by evaluating results and competitive developments.
- Resolve customer issues by investigation problems, developing solutions, preparing status reports, and making recommendations to management.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Issue monthly reports on historical sales records by area and customer.
- Prepare the annual budget for sales.
- Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising, etc.

Qualification Requirements:

- High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in identifying target markets, companies, and relevant personnel, and creating own leads.
- 5-10 years of Custom Fabrication sales experience in industrial and commercial markets.
- Skilled with MS Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Independent Worker.
- Self-Motivated and Self-Started.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Highly ambitious with a track record of building a sales department from the ground up.
- Must be able to understand and explain fabrication processes and equipment capabilities to internal and external parties.
- Must demonstrate understanding technical drawings and specifications.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
- Polished written and oral communication skills.

Sedentary position requires extended periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, driving and / or traveling. Talking, hearing, and repetitive motions are required. Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse.

The employee works in highly precarious places, is potentially exposed to fumes, airborne particles, dust, non-weather heat, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is also regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate but may be loud at certain times. Extensive work-related travel. The employee must be available during traditional and non-traditional hours (40 plus per week) to complete assigned tasks according to contract or job requirements.
