Job Purpose:
The Production Manager ensures processes run reliably and efficiently. Below provides a basis for the job and does not and will not be a complete listing of each job responsibility required. It is understood that job responsibilities are constantly changing, and a Production Manager requires flexibility and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as required or that can be reasonably be assumed to be a responsibility associated with this position due to its necessity for performing work within this capacity.
Description of Essential Duties:
- Safety
- Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
- Ensuring all employees are utilizing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at ALL times for work they are performing.
- Conducting regular risk assessments.
- Focusing on preventative measures and hazard reduction.
- Promoting accountability for safety compliance.
- Encouraging open safety dialog and cultivating a strong safety culture.
- Quality
- Responsible for the facilities compliance to all company and regulatory standards.
- Implement, and maintain quality control processes and systems.
- Monitor processes and performance to detect any areas of improvement.
- Investigate quality complaints and provide feedback.
- Document and analyze quality data and performance metrics.
- Provide guidance and support to all departments.
- Ensure proper training of staff on quality control procedures.
- Collaborate with other managers to ensure quality standards are met.
- Materials Management
- Managing inventory levels to ensure materials are in stock prior to production start dates.
- Ensuring all materials produced meet Phoenix quality requirements so as to ensure they comply with any applicable specifications and drawings.
- Works with purchasing department to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Oversees shipping and receiving functions related to purchased parts and finished goods.
- Manage and monitor storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
- Logistics
- Manage the daily operations of the shipping and receiving, including the sorting, handling, and distribution of materials and products.
- Manage the proper handling of all shipping documents such as advanced shipping notice, pick slips, and bills of lading.
- Oversee the entire process of preparing packages for shipping.
- Production Management
- Providing an accurate, up to date production schedule for all employees to ensure all field schedules are met.
- Ensuring employees have all required materials/tools to perform jobs prior to starting the work.
- Manage the manufacturing processes and look at inputs to achieve outputs.
- Create and maintain work schedules and budgets.
- Manage the production team to ensure all employees receive the proper training (safety, quality, and job duties).
- Responsible for maintaining proper staffing and assuring all employee matters are handled in accordance with company policies in a timely manner.
- Ensure payroll is completed accurately and on time, while also ensuring all hours in the shop are being tracked and applied to the correct job or code.
- Identify, evaluate, and resolve any problems with manufacturing or staffing.
- Monitor all employees to ensure they follow required work instructions, production orders, assembly drawings.
- Monitor production to find ways to improve efficiency and operations.
- Communicate effectively with staff, stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
- Training & Education of Employees
- Ensuring all employees

- Create annual production budgets.

- Facilities Maintenance and Management
- Lead all facility, grounds, and equipment maintenance and improvement efforts.
- Oversee timely repair and preventative maintenance schedules for equipment.
- Negotiate and manage service contracts and direct efforts to efficiently procure equipment, parts, and related supplies.
- Directly lead or coordinate all energy and sustainability projects.
- Plan and propose strategic capital expenditures and budgeting to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with upper-management and HR on building safety, security, and emergency preparedness efforts.
- Maintain all inspection, audit, and maintenance records.
- Ensure the proper environmental records are kept and are up to date at all times and that the facility is in compliance with all national and local environmental laws.

Qualification Requirements:

- High School Diploma, or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years minimum supervisory experience.
- Good hands-on mechanical ability.
- Working knowledge of computers and MS Office Suite.
- Hands on working knowledge of welding and metal fabrication techniques.
Highly Sought After Credentials:
- Certified Weld Inspector Certification

The employee must regularly lift and/or move and/or pull up to 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) of equipment, material and/or tools which may include lifting 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) above shoulders. Must also be capable of climbing onto trailers or trucks to secure and move equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee works in airborne particles, dust, non-weather heat, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee could be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate but may be loud at certain times. The employee must be available during traditional hours (40 plus per week) to complete assigned tasks according to contract or job requirements.
