Job Overview
Phoenix Investors, a national commercial real estate company based in Milwaukee, WI, seeks an organized, diligent, and responsible Collections Specialist to add to our talented team. In the Collections position, you will interact daily with our customer service staff to assist in managing customer accounts while also handling basic accounting duties and assisting the accounting staff.
Accounting Assistant Responsibilities
- Main lead for all collections activities
- Help explain invoices to customers keep our receivable accounts current
- Communicate with customers and business partners via telephone and email
- Prepare aging, customer statement and other ad-hoc reports
- Ensure appropriate late fees and interest are entered into SAGE for overdue accounts
- Assist legal department in issuing demand letters as necessary
- Ensure accuracy of customer ledgers
- Analyze variances, review ledger details, and record adjusting entries on customer accounts
- Assist in year-end audits/reviews
- Contribute to exploring new processes to drive continuous improvement
Accounting Assistant Qualifications
- 4-year degree in a related field
- 3 years of experience in accounting with 1 years supervision experience
- Solid understanding of accounting concepts
- Excellent math and problem-solving skills
- Customer-service oriented; interested in developing and maintaining customer relationships
- Ability to prioritize and balance completion of several tasks; self-motivated
- Strong attention to detail, positive attitude; willing and eager to learn new skills
- Prior experience with an accounting ERP preferred but not required
- Prior experience with Yardi a plus
- Strong communication skills; candidate will be required to interface with internal and external stakeholders (property managers, legal, tenants, etc.).
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong work ethic
- Ability to work within a team and independently
- Ability to seek information and problem solve
