POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Legal Counsel to support our commercial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in commercial and industrial real estate law. This role requires a proactive individual who can effectively manage legal matters, provide sound legal advice, and represent the company in negotiations and litigation.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy development
Draft and review real estate contracts
Perform title searches and examine property titles
Negotiate terms and conditions of sale or lease agreements
Provide legal advice related to real estate transactions
Handle closings and ensure all legal documents are properly executed
Maintain accurate records of all case-related activities and communications
Advise on zoning and land use regulations; obtain necessary permits for property development or use
Litigate lawsuits on behalf of the company in different areas of the law including but not limited to municipality law, real estate law, contract law, and slander/libel/defamation
Advise on the tax implications of property transactions; structure deals in a tax-efficient manner
Qualifications
JD from accredited law school, Wisconsin Bar admission, and an active member of the Wisconsin State Bar
At least five years of experience in real estate law; familiarity with real estate management and investment
Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent negotiation skills
Expertise in local, state, and federal real estate laws
Exceptional analytical and research skills with the ability to analyze complex legal issues
Proficiency in using legal software and research tools
