Position Summary:
As a CNC Programmer, one will be responsible for developing and optimizing computer numerical control (CNC) programs used to maximize efficiency in aerospace manufacturing precision components. One will also be involved in maintaining, debugging, and troubleshooting programs to ensure smooth continuous operations.

Essential Functions:

· Develop and write advanced CNC programs/toolpaths for a variety of machines including 3 axis, 4 axis and 5 axis CNC Machines for complex aerospace parts based on engineering drawings and specifications.
· Generate program code using computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software to capture all part details.
· Edit G-code manually and create custom post-processors for CAM programs to ensure optimal machine performance and accuracy. Analyze the behavior of code to diagnose a problem and find the underlying cause to debug and correct it.
· Ensuring cutting tool selection, feeds, and speeds are appropriate, considering the design specification, material, and range of tools for use.
· Maintain a master CNC program directory, through proper file management techniques to ensure the integrity of the CNC programs.
· Attends engineering/production meetings to report on the status of new projects, highlight needs and issues, and participate in discussions regarding the business.
· Assists in the design of jigs, tools, fixtures and special equipment for CNC applications and assembly. Design and engineer tooling for CNC lathes, mills, and 5-axis production.
· Develop and determine manufacturing processes and techniques to improve productivity, standardize manufacturing processes, solve production problems, ensure conformance to specifications while keeping manufacturing costs and process times to a minimum.
· Produce components for prototypes as well as parts for new product development.
· Continuously evaluate and improve existing CNC programs for efficiency and quality improvements.
· Create setup sheets and work instructions to hand off programs to production control.
· Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the machining process.
· Maintain or improve legacy part quality standards and cycle times with process improvements in accordance with customer and company manufacturing standards, delivery commitments, internal procedures, and protocols.
· Stay well-informed of industry trends and new technologies to drive innovation within the company.
· Regular verbal or written communication to internal and external stakeholders, customers, or vendors utilizing both electronic and analog systems.
· Utilization of office machines including copiers, scanners, phone systems, computers (including email), and other standard equipment.
· Participate in the operation of and compliance with all safety, hazardous material handling, and disposal requirements in accordance with government regulations and company procedures.
· Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with Manufacturing, Operations, and Production Control.
· Maintain a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with all internal, customer and government regulations.
· Interconnect with the Production/Shop Floor management personnel on issues and corrective actions, as required.
· Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e., shoes, eyewear, gloves, masks, shields, and coats) if needed.
· Assist in the preparation and control of estimates, statistics, and reports regarding Engineering activities.
· Perform all tasks within Quality System Management (QMS) requirements.
· As requested, assists with estimating the manufacturing of products.
· Contributes to accomplishing sundry engineering activities as needed.
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:Experience, Education and Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent Education required. Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
· Minimum of ten (10) years CNC programming experience within 4 and 5 multi-axis CNC machining centers using advanced cutting tools & technology.
· Must be accomplished at programming CNC milling from blueprints, 3D models, specifications, etc.
· Must have broad understanding of cutting too geometry and coatings as it is applied to hybrid metal alloys.
· Must be experienced in MasterCAM. SolidWorks and Vericut.
· Experience using lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma problem solving methodology.
· Experience working in AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems in a manufacturing environment.
· Proficient with ERP systems (Global Shop).
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a sense of urgency.
· Understanding of customer design specifications and requirements.
· Understanding of common industry specifications (material, coating/plating, NDT, etc.)
· Understanding of complex aerospace blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
· Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, internally and externally.
· Ability to adapt, prioritize, multi-task and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency.
· Strong knowledge of GD&T blueprints and the ability to interpret them accurately.

Work Environment:
This job operates in both a professional office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The pace is rapid and dynamic, multi-task oriented with short notice/changing deadlines. Accuracy and thoroughness/follow-through is very important.
