Description : Position Summary :

The Saw Operator performs safe operation of band saw equipment to efficiently and accurately cut high quality parts according to customer specifications and company procedures. The team member will embody the company values of Passion, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy.

Essential Functions :

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following :

Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot band saw machines (horizontal band saw, vertical plate saw and various chop saws).

Set up and operate automatic band saws, including loading materials, adjusting cutting parameters (speed, feed, blade tension).

Select and install appropriate saw blades for different materials and cutting applications.

Schedules saw priorities to maintain material availability to CNC operations.

Inspect work completed on machines for conformance to specifications.

Reads job order for specifications such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut and obtains and transfers stock to machine.

Perform light preventative maintenance tasks on machines to maintain machinery performance and prevent machine downtime.

Reports of any safety violation, machining equipment misusage and / or improperly performed work to supervisor, may provide input for action including discipline.

Regular verbal or written communication to internal stakeholders utilizing both electronic and analog systems.

Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production Control.

Maintains positive, team relationship with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.

Participate in the operation of and compliance with all safety, hazardous material handling, and disposal requirements in accordance with government regulations and company procedures.

Maintain a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with all internal, customer and government regulations.

Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e., shoes, eyewear, gloves, masks, shields, and coats) if needed.

Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations.

Complete testing and adjustment of parts, as needed.

Identify and replace parts, as necessary.

Other tasks as required.

Requirements :

Experience, Education and Qualifications :

High School Diploma or Equivalent Education. Skilled Trade Certification, preferred.

Minimum of three (3) years in CNC machines and Saws or relevant industry experience.

Minimum of two (2) years or more years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Experience working in AS9100 and ISO environment.

Experience using lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodology.

Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus.

Proficiency in operating saw machines, including knowledge of Fanuc controls.

Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) a plus.

Excellent organizational skills (verbal and written).

Understanding and ability to work within an ERP system (Global Shop).

Ability to adapt, prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, internally and externally.

Physical Demands :

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to type, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to access all areas of the facility.

Work Environment :

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The pace is rapid and dynamic, multi-task oriented with short notice / changing deadlines.
