Job Summary
This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing metals processing and distribution work. Work includes specialized equipment operation and / or supporting functions and requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods employed by Phoenix Metals in metals processing and distribution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate light and heavy gauge shear machines including proper machine adjustments to correct steel shape, squaring, etc.
- Maintain all aspects of product quality including selection and appearance of material, dimensional tolerance, weight, piece count, etc.
- Prepare inspection records and report production data.
- Measures and examines pieces using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, scales and squares to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Cleans equipment according to designated maintenance procedures.
- Diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments and removes scrap from machine.
- Coordinates and executes material handling.
- Completes work order paperwork / documentation.
- Assist with handling quality issues
- Communicate with other areas on changes to scheduling, processing, etc.
- Report machine malfunctions to supervision and assist outside maintenance if needed with major repairs.
- Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
- Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and accordance with Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. Safety Policy.
- Assist in other areas on as needed basis.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Warehouse / Field Setting; minimal temperature environment
Shift : Monday-Friday 8a-4 : 30p
