What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Compliance Officer position at Phoenix Mining?
Phoenix Mining is seeking 4 dedicated and detail-oriented Underground Coal Mine Safety and Compliance Manager to join our team. 2 positions will be in Colorado, 2 will be in Utah. The ideal candidates will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of all personnel in our underground operations by implementing safety measures, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with MSHA regulations. Part 48 knowledge in a production mining environment.
Key Responsibilities: * Conduct regular inspections of underground areas, equipment, and systems to identify potential hazards. * Monitor environmental conditions, including gas levels, ventilation systems, and dust concentrations, to ensure compliance with safety standards. * Perform safety checks on equipment such as methane detectors, proximity devices, and self-contained self-rescuers (SCSRs). * Assist in planning and executing emergency response drills and maintaining emergency equipment. * Deliver safety training sessions and refresher courses to miners and foremen on hazard recognition, equipment use, and emergency procedures. * Collaborate with supervisors, foremen, and employees to address safety concerns and enforce compliance with safety protocols. * Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions. * Maintain accurate documentation of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports. * Ensure adherence to all MSHA regulations and company safety policies. * Participate in risk assessments and assist in developing mitigation strategies for identified hazards.
Qualifications: Education and Certifications: * High school diploma or equivalent (required). * MSHA Mine Foreman Certification (preferred). * First Aid and CPR Certification (preferred). * Additional certifications in mine safety or occupational safety (preferred). * EMT Certification (preferred).Experience and Skills: * Minimum 5 (five) years of experience in underground coal mining operations. * Strong knowledge of MSHA regulations and underground coal mining safety standards. * Experience with gas monitoring equipment and ventilation systems. * Effective communication and leadership skills to train and collaborate with large teams. * Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and address potential risks. * Part 48 in a Production Mining Environment.Physical Requirements: * Ability to work in underground coal mines, low-light conditions, and physically demanding environments. * Comfortable with prolonged periods underground and in varying temperature conditions.
Pay - $40-50Hr depending on qualifications Per Diem per day worked7 on 7 off rotation 12 hour shifts
