Phoenix Paper Wickliffe LLC is searching for a qualified candidate to assume the role of Area Maintenance Supervisor.
Summary: Reporting directly to the Assistant Maintenance Manager, the position of AMS will be responsible for providing organizational leadership in the Paper Mill Complex (PMC) Maintenance Department including operator training, staff development, project management, and performance tracking. The Paper Mill Complex includes Paper Machine, Finishing & Shipping. This is a salaried, exempt position and therefore is not eligible for overtime.
Key responsibilities of the Area Maintenance Supervisor include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Work with the hourly team to ensure that safe work procedures are being followed.
- Supervise the establishment and/or modification of safe work procedures in full accordance with OSHA policies.
- Provide maintenance leadership to the PMC area in our efforts to achieve optimum equipment, and process reliability.
- Evaluate and develop craftspeople.
- Manage safety incident backlog and ensure safety follow-up with crews.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, local and company safety policies and procedures including safety training, inspections, accident investigation and housekeeping.
- Lead/participate in projects in the maintenance and operations department.
- Manage contractor resources for maintenance projects.
- Participate in departmental hourly/management team meetings.
- Communicate with managers and support teams to provide direction and ensure awareness, participation and understanding of issues and opportunities.
- Communicate with operating and maintenance staff.
- Possess ambulatory capabilities to walk extensively and climb ladders and stairways; and be able to tolerate temperature extremes in carrying out responsibilities.
- Must be able to work in a high-heat and high noise environment.
- Provide extended coverage for equipment downtime periods, holidays, and weekends as scheduled. Will be included in weekend coverage rotation.
- Leads weekly scheduling meetings.
- Verifies completion of work and closes W.O.’s in a timely manner.
- Reviews work order packages/ materials prior to scheduling work.
- Coordinates process equipment availability with respect to scheduled maintenance work with Operations leaders.
- Generates emergency work orders for schedule changing work.
- Meets at the end of the day, daily with operations to discuss any requirements for the next day’s work, I.E. LOCKOUT, PERMITS, ETC. Discuss any hanging out issues.
- Directs day shift tour maintenance.
- Balances manpower shortages.
General Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- 5 - 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of industrial equipment and components such as pumps, motors, bearings, refrigeration systems, compressors, piping systems, electrical and instrumentation, etc. used in paper manufacturing.
- Strong computer skills regarding SAP, Microsoft applications and CMMS systems.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem solving and decision-making skills, as well as initiative and the ability to delegate decision making and other responsibilities. Ability to handle multiple time sensitive projects and issues.
- Possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management.
