The S'edav Va'aki Museum has an opening for a Groundskeeper. In this role you will perform custodial and maintenance activities such as street landscaping and maintaining outdoor historical / specialty areas for the Arts and Culture facilities. You will interact with guests, learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation which takes place mainly in an on-the-job training setting. Other responsibilities include cleaning, gardening using push and riding mowers, string trimmers, edger and hedge shears. Groundskeepers work under general supervision and perform most tasks independently. Work is usually reviewed by an Arts and Culture Property Manager. Travel to other locations will be required.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Ability to work irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays and evenings as requested.
Ability to work outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.
Ability to move or lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a team environment or independently.
Ability to identify safety hazards or criminal activity and report it in a timely manner.
Ability to walk for prolonged periods which may include walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
Ability to professionally communicate information to museum staff and guests.

SALARY

Pay Range : $18.16 to $26.83 per hour.

Hiring Range : $18.16 to $23.18 per hour.

Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.

Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be willing and able to learn the functions of a Groundskeeper.

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus :

Experience with irrigation systems including Xeriscape.

Experience using power tools such as a tree trimmer, blower, line trimmer, etc.

Experience using hand tools and manual landscaping tools (hula hoe, rake, shovel, etc.)

Experience performing janitorial services (using cleaning chemicals, sweeping, mopping, etc.)
