What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Services Technician position at Phoenix Police Department?

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation's largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix.

The Water Services Department has an opening for a Water Services Technician. In this role you will perform a variety of field work including semi-skilled maintenance, preventative maintenance tasks, meter reading and meter repair in the Water Services Department, Water Meter Division. Assignments will vary based on operational needs, including working as a route person or a rover backing assigned routes. As a Water Services Technician you will work under the general supervision of a Water Customer Services Supervisor I or II.

SALARY

Pay Range : $18.60 to $35.08 per hour.

Hiring Range : $18.60 to $24.93 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Acceptable completion of the Water Services Technician Trainee program or equivalent.

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Working conditions :

Travel across rough, uneven or rocky surfaces to check meters, service lines, etc., in unpaved easements.

Work outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.

Move objects weighing up to 50 pounds is required.

Work around insects, reptiles, and animals is required.

Work irregular hours, second and / or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience in / with the following :

Reading and interpreting city geography and street addresses.

Entering data into a work order management system.

Basic plumbing and / or sprinkler system repair and maintenance.
