Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Chemist at Phoenix Refining in Houston, TX. The Chemist will be responsible for estimating and extracting precious metals from scrap, waste, etc. using various metallurgical processes, laboratory tasks, quality control, analytical work, research and development (R&D), and conducting research related to precious metal refining and recycling.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience refining Gold, Silver, Palladium, PGMs, and E-waste
- Ability to estimate precious metals such as Gold, Silver, Palladium, and PGMs contained in scrap, e-waste, dore, bullion, and other items through fire assay, electrolysis, pyrolysis, etc.
- Analyzing samples from raw materials to recovery from the smelting process for PGM elements
- Able to take charge and execute laboratory investigations, sampling, and testing
- Laboratory Skills and Analytical Skills
- Quality Control expertise
- Research and Development (R&D) experience
- Research capabilities
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Experience in precious metal refining / recycling industry is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field
