What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plate Maker position at Phoenix Services LLC?
We are hiring for a Plate Maker for a local premium tooling manufacturer that has been in business for over 50 years!!
Training will be on day shift but ultimately this will be an afternoon shift position with the hours of 2PM-10PM.
Primary Job Functions:
- Properly mark up required negatives and plates
- Trims, opaque and strips negatives and marks them for production
- Splice and prepare negatives for production
- Maintain a record of the work flow or log pertinent information into the log book
- Record and prioritize incoming and outgoing negatives and arrange negatives as defined
- Verify the bar code is correct using appropriate software
- Wear gloves and face shield when handling the developer/fixer powder
- Monitor dyluxes for job accuracy and/or reference for quality purposes
- Pour or set up photopolymer plates at a variety of heights accurately
- Perform mechanical or hand pour of plates as necessary
- Properly expose screens and fine copy utilizing the extra back exposure technique
- Adjust exposure time for plates as needed
- Measure plate thickness using the densitometer or beta flex for web and high-end graphic jobs
- Utilize distortion calculations accurately
- Record all time and plate material used for each job in Cyframe
- Other duties as assigned
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and the ability to perform mathematical calculations including fractions accurately. The ability to understand the difference between a positive and negative image and the effects of each on plate production and how the photopolymer exposure system operates is also required. Prior forklift certification and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. also required.
