Phoenix Tailings is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accountant to support the company’s financial operations. This role will be responsible for maintaining financial records, managing transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial management, possess a strong analytical mindset, and be comfortable working in a dynamic startup environment.
As an integral part of the finance team, the Accountant will play a critical role in supporting Phoenix Tailings’ financial growth and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage financial records: Maintain and organize financial transactions, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and general ledger integrity.
- Process accounts payable and receivable: Handle vendor payments, customer invoices, and expense reporting.
- Prepare financial reports: Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, assisting leadership in making data-driven decisions.
- Support budgeting and forecasting: Assist in preparing budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis to track company performance.
- Ensure tax compliance: Work with external accountants and tax professionals to ensure compliance with tax regulations and filings.
- Conduct reconciliations: Perform bank, credit card, and other reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.
- Assist in audits: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation and reports.
- Implement financial controls: Maintain and improve financial processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a startup, manufacturing, or clean energy environment.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Excel.
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with large data sets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
