- Troubleshooting: Support the investigation, root-cause identification, and resolution of drives control reliability issues. Diagnose and resolve issues with electronic circuits, systems, and test stands during the testing process. Work closely with design engineers to implement corrective actions.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze test data using MATLAB and Excel, identify trends, and generate detailed test reports. Provide recommendations for design improvements based on test results.
- Collaboration: Support the lead and senior engineers in evaluation of concepts and development of detailed controller designs.
- Develop test plans and related functions (layouts, stands, fixtures, etc.) which support the proposed plan for power electronic validation and field failure analysis.
- Test Execution: Conduct functional, environmental, and reliability testing of power electronic components and systems using various testing equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, probes, sensors etc.).
- Use creativity to find solutions for design modifications and troubleshooting locomotive component maintenance issues.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all testing procedures, manuals, test results, and changes made during the product lifecycle.
- Process improvement: Continuously improve testing methodologies and processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability of test results.

- An understanding of control logic function and its interaction between major electrical components.
- Past design experience with primary electrical systems and power magnetic components.
- Ability to create engineering experiments and execute testing to create workable solutions for electrical powered components.
- Ability and willingness to work "hands-on" in test labs and on locomotives or off-highway trucks with high HP (1000 KVA), medium voltage
(2 KV) and high current (10 KA) systems.
- Experience or training using MATLAB and/or C/C software development.
- Knowledge of electric machines (AC & DC motors, alternators, transformers) and power electronics (SCR, GTO, IGBT).
- Functional understanding of gate drivers.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 1 to 3 years of related experience.
