Title: Mid-Level Industrial Technician / Assembler – Front Line Manufacturing Support
Location: GE Transportation (A Wabtec Company) – Kansas City, MO (Next to MCI Airport)
Job Description:
These positions will be the primary contact for manufacturing shop related issues and actions regarding propulsion system assemblies. This role will review documents, inspect parts, complete assemblies and test assembled units. This individual must be comfortable with, working in a shop environment, project support and learning on the job for assigned tasks. The candidate will be required to interact directly with shop personnel and leadership for the technical support to carry out assigned objectives.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to the manufacturing team to ensure operational integrity of the assembly process.
- Interact with shop floor personnel to disassemble, inspect, repair and reassemble heavy vehicle components.
- Work with personnel to resolve issues surrounding inputs from operations for material usage at the point of manufacturing.
- Assist in collecting and reporting data to other groups to help identify areas for productivity gains.
- Generate new ideas and added inputs to help eliminate or reduce the number of errors created from incorrect inputs at the operations level.
- Assist in creating and revising collaborative documentation used by the operations to track and record material usage for unit builds.
- Work cross-functionally with other stakeholders, engineers and operations to correctly identify material usage and reduce the occurrence of scrap material.
Skills:
- Experience working with hand tools and basic shop equipment.
- Self directed work ethic with the ability to work well in a team environment.
- The ability to be trained and learn on the job about understanding component operation and defect repairs.
- Academic or related experience with systems used in the shop (quality systems, work instructions, ERP systems, BOM’s etc.) would be an added benefit.
Qualifications:
- Previous mechanical experience working with automotive, machining or fabricating.
- Building and repairing residential or industrial equipment.
- Bonus Qualification; any familiarity or experience with material prints.
- Be able to pass a drug screen and comprehensive background check.
