- Prepares, updates, maintains electronic and hard copy data required for local, state, and federal reporting, including data resulting from testing, e.g., mandatory hearing and vision screening on all ninth graders, special education students and new students to the District. Retrieves and converts data from external sources. Submits data to ADE.
- Reviews student records for accuracy and completeness and corrects errors.
- Produces and disseminates reports from existing databases and spreadsheets, as well as transcribes as necessary from dictation to produce records and reports (e.g., psychological reports and social histories on students being referred to special education or on students who are currently receiving special education services).
- Works with campus staff to collect, maintain, and report student and program data (e.g., data maintained by gifted facilitators).
- Coordinates the collection and maintenance of data on voucher students who have been placed in residential treatment facilities by a State placing agency as defined in applicable laws and statutes.
- Coordinates the destruction of special education records according to applicable laws, statutes, and regulations.
- Assists with data entry and maintenance as needed, e.g., for the ESS census and for mandatory state level student data about the placement of District students into private day school.
- Assists with processing paperwork for the purpose of ESS census.
- Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.
- Skill in identifying, creating and maintaining student records and/or other similar confidential and sensitive information.
- Skill in researching, analyzing, and compiling data for reports and technical documents, including charts, graphs, tables and text.
- Ability to produce properly-prepared reports from dictation in an efficient manner.
- Ability to type and enter data with speed and accuracy at a rate to perform functions effectively.
- Skill in organizing workflow and keeping maintaining accurate records and filing systems.

SUMMARY:
The ESS Data Technician develops and maintains student and other program related data needed for local, state, and federal ESS reporting (e.g., mandatory student level data submission to Arizona Department of Education). Provides training and direction to District staff regarding ESS data collection, maintenance and reporting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; Associate’s Degree in technology related field preferred; AND two years of experience working in a school office OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License and Certification Requirements:
Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.
