Introduction to the Director of Nursing DON Position:
We are seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) for a fast-paced Ambulatory Surgery Center in Encino, CA. This role offers a unique opportunity to oversee the daily operations of the center while gaining insight into its interdisciplinary functions during the orientation period. As the Director of Nursing, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless collaboration between departments, maintaining high standards of patient care, and upholding regulatory compliance.
Director of Nursing DON Role Details:
- Location: Encino, CA
- Salary: $142,185 to $241,323 per year, based on experience
- Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Director of Nursing DON Responsibilities:
- Oversee surgical pre-op, intra-op, and PACU care to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
- Assist with procedures and patient monitoring, including compliance with anesthesia protocols
- Manage staff scheduling, credentialing, and compliance to maintain operational efficiency
- Maintain inventory control, safety protocols, and risk management procedures
- Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission and other accreditation standards
- Act as Risk Manager Designee, overseeing the quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) program
- Conduct performance evaluations for nursing staff and provide necessary training and development
- Monitor daily staffing levels and assign duties based on competency and patient needs
- Enforce policies and procedures, including counseling and disciplinary measures for non-compliance
- Collaborate with the Materials Manager to ensure proper supply and equipment management
- Monitor budget compliance and assist in financial planning for the surgery center
- Maintain compliance with infection control programs and oversee annual inspections
Director of Nursing DON Qualifications:
- Current California RN license
- BLS & ACLS certification required (American Heart Association)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage a fast-paced surgery center environment while ensuring high-quality patient care
- Experience with The Joint Commission accreditation process and regulatory compliance
- Proficiency in risk management, safety protocols, and staff training
- Compassionate, professional, and team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
