Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant Educator is responsible for providing comprehensive training to both new and existing medical assistants, ensuring adherence to established clinical and administrative protocols set by local dermatology physicians. This role focuses on developing proficiency in key responsibilities, including patient rooming, medical history documentation, and accurate recording of visit details. Additionally, the Medical Assistant Educator provides hands-on instruction in various dermatological procedures, such as biopsies, surgical interventions, and skin treatments, to maintain the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions:

To perform effectively in this role, the candidate must fulfill the following duties with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive medical assistant training programs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and certification requirements.
  • Provide engaging, hands-on instruction in clinical procedures (e.g., phlebotomy, EKGs, vital signs) and administrative tasks (e.g., medical coding, patient scheduling).
  • Utilize diverse teaching methods, including lectures, simulations, and one-on-one training sessions.
  • Assess student performance through skills evaluations and practical assessments.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills in interactions with patients, staff, and trainees.
  • Effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of medical supplies, proper room preparation, and dermatologic terminology, conditions, and treatments.
  • Perform suture removal, wound care, and provide post-procedure instructions with precision and adherence to best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with sterile techniques and infection control protocols to uphold patient safety and quality standards.
  • Execute additional responsibilities assigned by the supervising physician or practice manager.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple facilities within a designated area as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Responsibilities:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of medical assistant experience, preferably in dermatology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient in ModMed EMR
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate patient records.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

    • Occasionally lift, push, pull, or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Vision Requirements:
    • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
