What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Support Specialist (on-site) position at Physical Sciences Inc.?
Physical Sciences Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking to employ a full-time IT Support Specialist who is a self-starter and can work independently or as directed. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support to users in the form of software installation, hardware installation, system configuration/configuration changes, basic networking, troubleshooting, system maintenance, as well as other duties assigned. The IT Support Specialist will identify and resolve issues for users through in-person interactions, telephone, or remote access. When needed, the IT Support Specialist will escalate issues to level II support.
Technical Requirements Needed:
- Experience with the Windows operating system (10/11)
- Basic knowledge of the Linux operating system
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products/Microsoft 365
- Basic knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN)
- Experience installing common PC components (RAM, SSD, PCIe cards, etc.)
- Experience with a ticketing system
- Experience with system migration and backups
- Basic knowledge of information security
The candidate we seek will possess strong interpersonal skills, an aptitude for problem-solving, and excellent written and verbal communication. The candidate will adhere to standard operating procedures. A valid driver’s license is necessary as candidate will travel to local facilities (up to 15 minutes away from the primary work site).
An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent is required along with 2 years of IT support experience.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
