Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our growing team. This position is a client facing role that is responsible for managing the financial health of our clients by providing medical billing and coding functions. A strong candidate is someone who has experience in administrative, billing, or other support type roles. This person must be comfortable sitting in front of a computer daily, has a high level of customer service experience, and is not afraid to talk to clients over the phone to resolve issues.

Responsibilities
- Process and manage billing for medical services rendered, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Utilize ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Review patient accounts for accuracy, making necessary adjustments as needed.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claims status, denials, and appeals.
- Perform medical collections by following up on outstanding balances with patients and insurance providers.
- Maintain organized records of billing transactions, payments received, and outstanding invoices.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
Requirements
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Possesses an aptitude to learn, a can-do attitude, and is highly motivated.
Preferred Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within a medical office setting, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), DRG, and medical collections processes, preferred.
- Familiarity with various billing software systems is preferred.
