Opportunity Details

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Surgical Pathologist to the group at NYC Health Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. The Hospitals are part of NYC Health Hospitals. Jacobi is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and NCB has 213 licensed beds. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein Medical College to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.

The Department of Pathology at Jacobi Medical Center is seeking and attending pathologist for the Division of Anatomic Pathology. The Division of Anatomic Pathology at Jacobi Medical Center is CAP-accredited, includes 6 pathologists and has a surgical pathology volume of 13,000 specimens/year. The successful candidate must have strong surgical pathology skills, be Board eligible/ certified in anatomic pathology and hold a New York State license at the time of proposed employment. Additional fellowship training and experience in hematopathology or cytopathology is desirable. Responsibilities include diagnostic evaluation of surgical pathology specimens, frozen sections, conferences/tumor board and sign out of autopsies.

Evaluate and sign out routine surgical pathology cases and hematopathology cases, including bone marrow biopsies, lymph node tissue, fine needle aspirations and flow cytometry: 

  • Provide on-call coverage for frozen sections
  • Provide hematology consultations and correlation
  • Provide Blood Bank coverage when needed

Qualifications


  • Board certified by American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP pathology
  • Completed Fellowship in Hematopathology
  • Must qualify for NY Medical License

Wages and Benefits include:

Annual Base Salary: $245,912* (board eligible) and $255,912* (board certified) based on 40-hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $366,023** (board eligible) and $377,023** (board certified), which includes the baseline salary, 401 (k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors as set forth below:

  • Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $55,520.
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
  • Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and CME days.
  • Medical, Prescription, and Dental Coverage: Top-tier plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.
  • Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Coverage: Equal to 2x your salary (up to a maximum of $300,000) provided at no cost to you. 
    • Additional employee-paid Voluntary Life and AD&D coverage is available for you and your family.
  • Loan Forgiveness: Position may be eligible for loan forgiveness through certain state or federal programs.
  • Medical Malpractice Coverage (equivalent to occurrence-based): Provided at no cost to the employee.
