What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Nurse Assistant position at Physicians Dialysis?
Job Summary:
Provide supportive care in a medical detox and residential environment. Serving as a medication aide upon passing a certification test in Kansas. Collaborate with a passionate, dedicated team to ensure patients receive optimal nursing care at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Answer call lights and bells to determine client needs
• Assist clients with grooming, oral hygiene, bathing, hair, and incontinence care
• Assist clients with a range of motion exercises
• The movement to and from the bed as needed
• Obtain and record vital signs and intake and output as directed
• Communicate to the nursing team changes in clients’ clinical condition
• Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, and personal interest, as well as a calm environment
• Demonstrate pride in the organization by keeping areas clean and safe
• Act decisively and quickly in emergencies
• Demonstrate ongoing responsibility and commitment through good attendance
• Performs duties in an ethical, legal, and caring manner
• Performs duties safely and effectively to ensure client comfort and welfare
• Respects client rights
• Protects confidential client information unless otherwise required to promote client safety and welfare
• Follows federal, state, and agency regulations to protect own health and that of others
• Seeks guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently
• Dispense oral, inhalation, and topical medications to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse unless otherwise allowed by state law.
• Observe patients for drug reactions and report any problems to the nurses.
• Performing tasks associated with medication administration, including patient vital signs, calculating medication dosages, and stocking the medication cart.
• Recording medication administration according to agency procedure
• Perform other tasks/duties as assigned
Required License(s)/Certification(s):
• Certified Nurse Assistant by Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services Health Occupations Credentialing
• BLS Provider credentialed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education/Experience/Qualification:
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• Previous CNA experience preferred but not required
• Must have a current CNA and CMA certification.
• Must have excellent time management skills and be able to work on deadlines
• Must be able to maintain a courteous, friendly, and helpful attitude with residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times
• Previous Medication Aide experience
