We are looking for an exceptional Mammography Assistant to join our practice!
Physicians East, PA is a multi-specialty, multi-campus group based out of Greenville, NC offering a wide range of specialties. In addition to primary care the practice offers pulmonary and critical care medicine, rheumatology, dermatology, oncology, endocrinology, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, gastroenterology, surgery, urology, and urgent care. Our 102 providers and over 600 employees provide services for thousands of patients in a 29-county region. Our specialists are on staff at ECU Health, a 900 bed, level one trauma center and the primary teaching hospital for the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine (ECU-BSOM).

Supervision Received: Reports to Manager of Diagnostics
Supervision Exercised: None
Typical Physical Demands: Work requires sitting for long periods of time; some stooping, bending, and stretching may be required. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, copier, fax machine, and such other office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.
Typical Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Responsibilities: This list may not include all the duties assigned.
- Maintains mammography tracking system in an organized manner.
- Enters patient’s breast history information in database for all screening mammograms.
- Communicates with Eastern Radiology Coordinator to assure they have everything needed for the radiologist to read the mammograms.
- Obtains previous mammogram images obtained at other facilities for comparison, by faxing a signed release of authorization by patient.
- Import mammogram images received from other facilities into our PACS system.
- Power shares images or burns images on CDs as requested.
- Responsible for obtaining orders from physicians outside of PE (Dr. Habal).
- Deactivates deceased patients from Mammo tracking system.
- Prepare mammo bags for transport to other PE Mammo offices.
- Enters all mammogram procedure’s bi-rad, density, and follow up codes in Omnicare (Mammography Tracking Software). Prints and mails patient notification result letters.
- Creates addendums for mammograms received for comparison after the initial mammogram has been read.
- Schedule patients needing to return to clinic for additional views. Schedule 3-month, 6 months, and 1 year diagnostic follow up appointments.
- Provides coverage for the Radiology Reception Coordinator.
- Attends quarterly mammo meetings as required.
Location & commitments
Candidate requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Two-year degree preferred; computer experience required; medical office experience preferred.
