Job Description:
As a Nurse Practitioner at Physicians Eye Clinic of Laredo, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care in the field of ophthalmology. You will conduct comprehensive ocular exams, manage post-operative follow-ups, monitor diabetic eye disease, and collaborate closely with ophthalmologists to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive ocular exams including patient history, visual acuity testing, slit-lamp exams, and tonometry.
- Manage post-operative follow-ups (cataract surgery, laser procedures), ensuring early detection of complications.
- Monitor diabetic eye disease and coordinate care in collaboration with ophthalmologists.
- Interpret diagnostic imaging and test results (training provided).
- Educate patients on exam findings, treatment plans, and medication use in easy-to-understand terms.
- Maintain a team-based approach, contributing to positive patient outcomes and clinic efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Current, Unrestricted Nurse Practitioner License in Texas.
- Strong Communication Skills with the ability to clearly explain medical information to patients in an understandable manner.
- Ability to Multitask and perform efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Interest in Learning Ophthalmology and adapting to new technologies and procedures.
- Experience in Performing Comprehensive Ocular Exams, including visual acuity testing, tonometry, slit-lamp exams, and patient history.
- Ability to Interpret Diagnostic Imaging and test results (training will be provided).
- Experience with Post-Operative Care, especially for cataract surgeries and laser procedures, with an emphasis on early complication detection.
- Ability to Collaborate with Ophthalmologists and other team members to ensure positive patient outcomes.
- Empathy and Patient-Centered Care approach to educate and support patients throughout their treatment journey.
- Strong Organizational Skills to manage patient schedules and documentation.
- Commitment to Continuing Education and staying updated on new procedures and technologies within ophthalmology.
