Nurse Practitioner - Hospitalist Nights
Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering quality healthcare services. This role will involve working closely with our medical staff to diagnose and treat patients with various medical conditions. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for conducting patient assessments, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medications as necessary. The successful candidate will have experience working in an outpatient setting and will be familiar with ICD-9 coding.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments, including taking medical histories and performing physical exams.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients with a range of medical conditions.
- Diagnose and treat patients with developmental disabilities, including working with patients who have intellectual or physical disabilities.
- Provide patient education on healthy lifestyle habits, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions.
- Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests as necessary.
- Utilize effective communication skills to educate patients and their families about their condition and treatment options.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in utilization management activities to ensure that patients receive the most appropriate level of care.
- Provide infant care, including routine vaccinations and well-child visits.
- Develop and teach patient education programs.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care.
- Perform gastric lavage and other invasive procedures as necessary.
- Administer IV infusions and other medications.
- Stay current with the latest medical knowledge and best practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
Experience:
- Current RN license and APRN certification.
- Experience working in an inpatient setting, preferably in a teaching hospital or similar environment.
- Experience working with acute care patients.
- Familiarity with ICD-9 coding and utilization management principles.
- Proven experience in providing patient education and developing patient education programs.
- Strong clinical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of medical terminology.
- Experience working with critically ill patients.
- Proficiency in utilizing management principles.
- Experience working in a teaching hospital or similar environment.
- Knowledge of ICD-9 coding.
- Experience in an inpatient setting.
