What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Verification Specialist position at Physicians' Primary Care of Southwest Florida?
Physicians’ Primary Care of Southwest Florida is a premier physician owned and managed primary care practice with locations in Cape Coral, Fort Myers, and Lehigh Acres. We are currently seeking an Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team in Cape Coral.
Sample of Duties:
- Reviews insurance of scheduled patients.
- Determines amount that patient will pay at time of visit and notifies patient prior to appointment.
- Notifies front desk of expected patient payments.
- Informs Check-in and Check-out staff of amount to be collected at time of service.
- Verifies patient insurance benefits.
- Documents billing information in the billing notes section of Allscripts
- Uses appropriate websites to verify patient eligibility
- Maintains strict confidentiality.
- Maintains work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Supports Physicians’ Primary Care of Southwest Florida, P.L., goals and objectives and team concept.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- One year of experience working in a high-volume medical office environment
- Knowledge of medical charging, billing and registration policies and procedures
- Ability to perform mathematical computations and compute ratios and percentages.
- Ability to handle all interactions in a professional, friendly and compassionate manner.
- Knowledge of methods and procedures of health data systems.
