Responsibilities
- Assist the RN and surgeon in preparing for surgical procedures, assist in surgical procedures, and prepare for the next case.
- Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
- Have an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
- Have the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
Current Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
(NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support Certification
Preferred Job Requirements
- Previous ORT/CST.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
