House Director Job Summary – Indiana University
The House Director oversees the daily operations, safety, and well-being of the fraternity house and its members. This role requires experience in household or institutional management, serving as both a manager and advisor to students, alumni, and university officials.
The House Director is provided a private apartment suite on the main floor of the house which includes a bedroom, living room, office, private bathroom, laundry and kitchenette.
Key Responsibilities:
- Property Management: Oversees house maintenance, vendor coordination, and compliance with university policies.
- Financial Operations: Manages budgets, submits invoices to accounting firm, and ensures timely payments.
- Housing Operations: Coordinates and ensures appropriate cleaning, repairs, security, and inventory.
- Risk Management: Enforces safety regulations, reports misconduct, and schedules inspections.
- Campus & Community Relations: Acts as a liaison with university officials, emergency services, and other house directors.
- Environment & Chapter Relations: Maintains a welcoming atmosphere, advises students, and upholds house traditions.
- Personnel Management: Works well in partnering with vendors and contractors, including cooks, housekeepers, and maintenance personnel.
- Kitchen Operations: Assists as needed with coordinating meal planning, food purchases, and kitchen cleanliness.
Qualifications:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold university and chapter policies.
- Knowledge of crisis management, social etiquette, and student engagement.
