JOB TITLE : Sr. Systems Engineer
DEPARTMENT : Engineering
REPORTING TO : Chief Engineer
SUMMARY :
The Senior Systems Engineer at Piasecki Aircraft Corporation will provide technical leadership in requirements development, system architecture design, and validation and verification management of complex aerospace systems. This role will serve as a subject matter expert, mentoring junior engineers while ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements. The Senior Systems Engineer will drive cross-functional collaboration, applying advanced expertise in systems engineering methodologies, modeling, and analysis to deliver successful project outcomes and contribute to organizational process improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Lead the application of systems engineering principles to plan, design, develop, and verify rotorcraft and unmanned autonomous aerospace systems throughout their lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and integration of complex rotorcraft systems, ensuring performance, weight, functionality, and form factors exceed requirements.
- Lead systems analyses to optimize affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, and other critical factors for mission success.
- Champion the implementation of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and mentor junior engineers in MBSE practices.
- Spearhead the development of proposals, design reviews, and system test plans, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and industry standards.
- Conduct advanced analysis of system requirements, test data, and customer feedback to assess system performance and implement strategic improvements.
- Lead coordination of design development and system integration efforts, including management of subcontractor relationships.
- Direct complex trade studies and analyses to evaluate alternative design concepts and optimize system performance against competing constraints.
- Lead the advancement of internal processes for configuration management of requirements and other engineering artifacts using JAMA and GitLab / GitHub.
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure effective utilization of systems engineering tools and processes across the organization.
- Lead failure modes and effects analyses, identify technical risks, and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies.
- Mentor junior systems engineers, providing technical guidance and career development support.
- Represent Piasecki Aircraft Corporation in technical forums, conferences, and customer meetings.
