Job Summary
Piazza & Associates, Inc., a leading affordable housing service provider, seeks applicants for full-time (35 - 40 hours per week) position as Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist.
Responsibilities
The Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist is responsible for collecting and processing applicant and resident information, including, but not limited to tax returns, pay statements, benefit letters and 3rd party verification; ensuring proper calculation of income, assets and rent levels; and determining eligibility for initial and continued program compliance, as needed.
Requirements of the Position:
- Extremely organized and professional;
- Capacity to take direction from superiors / managers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and pass an extensive background check.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, both in person and on the phone.
- Superior customer service skills required, including the ability to treat every applicant / resident with objectivity, respect and courtesy.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Proficient understanding of basic math concepts, including the ability to calculate gross annual income based on various types of employment payment documents, asset statements, benefit letters, etc.
- In depth understanding of personal tax returns, including 1040’s and schedules, w2’s, 1099’s, federal and state benefit programs, etc.
- Must be able to work in a cooperative & collegiate environment in which all employees are expected to be flexible and supportive.
- Bilingual – English with a proficiency in any one of the following languages a plus: Spanish; Portuguese; Chinese; Arabic; Gujarati; Hindi; or Telugu.
- Compliance experience in any one of the following programs a plus: NJ Uniform Housing Affordability Controls; Low Income Housing Tax Credit program; project-based Section 8; HOME; or other similar HUD program.
