POSITION: Bookkeeper
REPORTS TO: Program Director
REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/GED
Criminal Check Approval (NYS & FBI)
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform all bookkeeping tasks for the program.
PRIMARY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet with all residents at the beginning of the month to negotiate entitlement checks, collect rent, and provide residents with receipts for same.
- Meet with residents twice monthly to distribute PNA (Personal Needs Allowance) and obtain signature for same.
- Distribute money management funds to residents on designated days with a frequency agreed upon by the resident.
- Balance cash receipts and cash disbursement books. Obtain page totals and ensure that both book balance at months end.
- Follow-up with case managers when clients have a rent balance on account.
- Make money deposits/cash checks for petty cash.
- Reconcile and balance petty cash.
- Distribute and balance metro-cards to clients.
- Provide and obtain completed forms/documentation for new hires and transmit to main office.
- Keep copies of all invoices and forward originals to the main office.
- Clear accounts and obtain resident I.D's upon discharge.
- Assist clients make application for:
- Medicaid
- Food Stamps
- Public Assistance
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Social Security Disability
- Agency liaison with Social Security Administration.
- Agency liaison with Public Assistance.
- Accompany clients to entitlement appointments/hearings.
- Assist with Patient Characteristics Survey (PCS)
- Participate in OMIG case reviews.
- Participate in annual anti-sexual harassment training.
