The Auxiliary Operator is responsible for start-up, operation, monitoring, and shutdown of plant equipment from outside the control room, ensuring adherence to all safety and environmental regulations. This position requires diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment, including assisting with system overhauls and performance improvements. The Auxiliary Operator also plays a key role in compliance with operational and safety procedures, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the power plant.

Key Project Requirements
- Power Plant Operations Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a power generation facility, preferably combined cycle, with expertise in start-up, shutdown, and routine operations.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance of gas turbines, steam turbines, and HRSGs.
- Safety & Compliance: Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations, environmental compliance standards, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose operational issues, interpret system performance data, and implement corrective actions to maintain efficiency and reliability.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the power plant, including auxiliaries and balance of plant systems, from outside the control room.
- Execute start-up, operation, and shutdown of equipment and systems in alignment with approved plant procedures, technical manuals, and instructions from the Control Room Operator.
- Continuously monitor and accurately record local operating parameters, making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal safety and efficiency.
- Assist Control Room Operators in managing the facility’s operations with minimal supervision and operate and maintain all plant equipment, including local operation via PLC panel interfaces.
- Proactively communicate any operational issues, unusual conditions, or equipment malfunctions to ensure seamless plant performance.
- Efficiently use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to log maintenance data and activities, ensuring alignment with the facility’s maintenance philosophy and operational goals.
- In-depth knowledge of power plant operations including mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical systems required
- Possess knowledge of all facets of power plant operations to include systems functionality, maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, procedures, and policies related to plant operations and safety practices
- Knowledge and understanding of equipment isolation and tagging procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and work in varying environmental conditions.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, gloves, safety vests, and steel-toe boots.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- 5 years of related experience in power plant operations, maintenance, and safety compliance.
