Job Summary:
The EHS Manager is responsible for managing and enforcing compliance with company, local, state and federal health and safety rules and regulations for all Patriot Hydro Hydroelectric generation assets for the New England Region plants. This includes regular visits to the sites in the region to oversee and support the compliance of the EHS program. The EHS Manager will work in conjunction with the Patriot Hydro EHS team and the PIC Corporate EHS team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and enforce PIC safety programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Administration of safety program and compliance training and tracking completion.
- Conduct hazard assessments to identify and evaluate hazards and control measures.
- Perform regular onsite audits to ensure compliance objectives are being met, assess risk, and to identify unsafe acts and conditions.
- Investigate accidents and injuries and assist in root cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain site specific integrated contingency plans.
- Identify and track completion of safety related corrective actions.
- Establish and track regional monthly safety committee meetings.
- Provide oversite and guidance on safety to Operations teams.
- Support site visits to ensure safety compliance for major work tasks across Patriot Hydro fleet.
- Manage recurring safety training requirements for plant staff and coordinate third party classroom training as needed.
- Coordinate regular periodic plant health and safety audits to ensure that the facilities are in compliance with the corporate EHS program.
- Assist in maintenance of safety files and records for Patriot Hydro sites including internal reports, incident documentation, OSHA logs, etc.
- Assist in leading investigation of accidents and injuries that occur at the facility in coordination with plant management and PIC Corporate.
Job Requirements:
- Must be able to travel as requested for regular visits to various sites for the New England Region (approx. 25-40% travel time).
- Must be able to read and understand corporate programs, policies, plant drawings, P&ID’s, procedures and instructions specific to the operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to productively work independently and cross departmental boundaries in support of EHS Compliance
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively organize and facilitate process teams to implement facility improvements
- Ability to write technical reports, correspondence, and procedures.
- Strong understanding of OSHA general industry regulations with an emphasis on electrical safety and safety permitting – job safety analysis and briefing, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, hot work, and permit to work.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work at heights, including climbing ladders and stairs, and in confined or enclosed spaces.
- Capability to lift and carry equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and noise.
Education / Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Safety or equivalent
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an EHS position preferably in the power industry; hydro experience a plus.
