Job Summary
PIC has a fast-paced opportunity for an experienced Instrument Control System (ICS) Engineer that will support a planned outage of retrofitted 6 unit LM2500 site. The ICS Engineer will report to the Outage Manager, and play a critical role to ensuring that the instrument controls systems are correctly installed and operable. The ICS Engineer plays a pivotal role with the team to ensure the system controls are operating at peak efficiency and output, maximizing performance to the system. The ICS Engineer must have extensive working experience with GE controls systems, worked prior outages, and be able to exhibit strong team work while supporting the project.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Demonstrated hands on working knowledge of GE Control systems requirements.
- Monitor overall health of each control system and identify actions and procedures to maintain and improve integrity of plant control systems.
- Monitor DCS systems to quickly identify and resolve control and tuning issues.
- Develop and implement safe, reliable, efficient control strategies to meet the changing requirements of new plant operational processes.
- Provide clear and concise engineering analysis of control issues affecting plant safety, reliability, and efficiency. Develop and implement solutions to these issues.
- Recommend, advise, and counsel on plant performance and operational modifications, control system enhancements, and control network security testing.
- Effectively communicate with all levels of personnel internal and external to the project.
- Understand and embody the importance of teamwork.
Job Requirements
- Must have hands on experience and expert skills in engineering, reading schematics, systems controls and GE systems.
- Demonstrated recent working experience with Toolbox and GEV Mark VIE Controls.
- Be able to read and understand Logic Drawings, electrical schematics, and interface cards.
- Prior experience with GE Control System Installation and Commissioning Principles, GE Control System Tuning and Troubleshooting Requirements, and GE Control System Operational Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA Requirements required for the project.
Education / Experience
- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Degree preferred
- 5 years GE control system startup and operational experience required
- Toolbox software experience required.
- OSHA 10- or 30-Hour Training – strongly preferred
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $65-$70.
