PIC Group is seeking several additional staff for the 2025 fish passage season at our hydroelectric plant in Lawrence, MA. The Seasonal Fishway Operator will perform duties to facilitate safe and effective upstream passage of diadromous fish.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Counting and recording of different species lifted.
- Help various fish agencies load fish into transfer trucks.
- Maintain and record proper conditions for ideal passage.
- Assist with any public tours.
- Maintain cleanliness of counting room and equipment.
- Operate equipment necessary to lift and transport fish upstream.
- Assist with installation and operation of upstream eel ladders.
- Assist with operation of video equipment related to fish passage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to solve practical problems and provide applicable solutions.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Ability to frequently climb ladders and walkways.
- Duties require walking, standing for extended periods of time, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- The frequent use of protective equipment may be required. Work with hazardous materials may also be required.
- High School diploma or equivalent, (Must be 18 years old to operate mechanical equipment).
- 0-2 years of related experience.
- Mechanical and/or electrical skills as applied to turbines, generators, compressors, pumps, motors, valves and related equipment and systems.
