Mercantile Assistant Manager

Located in Calistoga, our Mercantile store is expanding quickly. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and problem solver candidate to assist with managing the mercantile store (and possibly our tasting room). This key position reports directly to the Director of Hospitality. This is a full-time role with exciting growth opportunities for the right candidate.

The candidate will successfully assist the manager with all aspects of store, merchandising, inventory accuracy, shipping online orders, customer data capture, and sales on the floor.

· Merchandise and sell retail items

· Monitor store and tasting room supply levels

· Create memorable experiences for the visitors

· Assist with meeting store sales goals

· Open and close the store

· Enter all incoming inventory in the POS system

· Enter descriptions for product and take pictures of all new items

· Monitor price changes for existing product

· Create signage and shelf talkers for product

· Manage sales trends and propose reorders to Manager

• Ensure accuracy and reliability of inventory

• Ensure store image is maintained (visual merchandising / housekeeping standards)

• Track all referral guests and increase the referral business by promoting the TR locally

• Monitor customer service feedback and provide a superior level of hospitality

· Dress professionally

· Work with shipping coordinator to ensure online and ship orders are being sent in a timely manner

· Provide assistance in tasting room with wines by the glass and wine sales

· Provide feedback to improve store operations

Skills Needed:

· Exceptional customer service and sales skills, enjoy working with the public

· Ability to intelligently share product knowledge

· Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and to lift 40 lbs

· Must be 21 years old and available to work weekends.

· Retail and merchandising experience is desirable

· Good computer skills required

· Existing Industry network is a big plus

· Wine knowledge or the desire to learn about wine advantageous
