JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Cashier is responsible for supporting the Supervisor/Assistant Managers in managing the store cashiers within the Chukchansi Travel Center. The Lead is responsible for ensuring the daily tasks are completed, assisting the Front Cashiers, and reporting to their management about tasks and customer relations. Leads can train other cashiers, but must help to create a welcoming and clean environment for the customers.
Essential Duties
- Resolve customer complaints and maintain excellent customer relations.
- Monitor Cash Drawers for overages and/or shortages.
- If necessary, cashing out registers and dropping money for the deposit.
- Assist in training Cashiers when necessary.
- Have a working general knowledge of the daily store duties and help cashiers understand and complete them.
- Assist in the implementation of new policies or procedures and, if necessary, train cashiers.
- Assist Management in assigning duties to cashiers and ensuring duty completion.
- Establishing a positive work environment for all employees and reporting to management about any employee issues.
- Assist with Front POS systems and customers, especially when busy.
- Assist Customers with their purchases and any needs that can be met.
- Assist management in ensuring employees take require breaks, especially during busy periods.
- Maintain inventory cleanliness on the sales floor and assist management with inventory cleanliness in the stockroom.
- Perform Price Checks.
- Ensure the cooking station is cleaned and food is ready for the next shift.
- Ensure items are stocked on shelves on and off load days.
- Achieve and Maintain Certifications, Alcoholic Beverage sales, Food Handler Certification, and Propane Certifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age
- Valid State issued Driver’s License
- 1 year minimum experience in retail business
- Must successfully pass a background check
- Must successfully pass a drug test for all non-cannabis substances

- Must be able to work rotating shifts.
- Ability to calculate sales and change quickly.
- Accountability and accuracy in reconciling sales receipts and records.
- Service-oriented and willing to help patrons.
- Customer service skills to maintain positive customer relationships, encourage customer loyalty and resolve conflicts.
- Knowledge of point-of-sales system.

- Familiarity with the Tribe’s Constitution, laws, and culture is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work in a high-performance, fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

- Organized with unfailing attention to detail and outstanding project management skills.
- High level of comfort/ease interacting with all levels in the Tribe.
- Ability to translate complex legal issues and requirements into understandable terms for easy dissemination across the organization.

- Must operate and maintain confidentiality.

PRCI Tribal Preference:
In accordance with applicable Tribal Law, and Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the PRCI Administration shall give preference in hiring, promotion, transfer, and lay-off to enrolled members of the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians. To qualify for this preference, applicants must submit verification of enrollment in the Tribe. Preference means that Tribal Members who are equally qualified as non-tribal members will be hired. In addition, on the Human Resources Interview rubric that allows for a total of 75 points during interviews, Tribal members will be awarded an additional 7.5 points (10% of allotted points) counted in the overall tally. Tribal members who are not Chukchansi will receive Indian preference by awarding five additional points (6.7% of the total allotted points).
