Title: Teacher (Early Childhood/Preschool Intervention Specialist) - Pickerington Preschool
Qualifications:
•Possession of baccalaureate or higher degree in an approved program for special education, early childhood, or related field
•ODE Early Childhood Intervention Specialist license or ability to obtain a temporary license
•HQT
•Strong knowledge of IDEA requirements/guidelines and Ohio’s Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities
•Required criminal background check
•Meets USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification

Job Goal:
Provide an appropriate and quality early childhood educational program for children with disabilities and also provide an educational opportunity for typically developing children to serve as social and academic role models (peers) in the classroom.
Align our program to the Early Learning Development Standards as recommended by the Ohio Department of Education.
Performance Responsibilities:
1.Provide an appropriate educational program for students in accordance with adopted State Board of Education rules and Fairfield County ESC policies and procedures.
2.Develop, implement, and evaluate an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for each student in the class including parent goals.
3.Use with the students a variety of instructional strategies, interventions, and accommodations to improve their success in school.
4.Provide clear objectives for all lessons and projects and clearly communicate the objectives to the students.
5.Administer and adhere to IDEA requirements/guidelines and the Ohio’s Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities.
6.Consult with administrative and supervisory personnel regarding activities occurring within the classroom, progress and problems of students, and the program.
7.Work cooperatively with other classroom teachers, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of the students to the entire staff to assure the integration of the students into the total school program.
8.Collect data for providing appropriate classroom instruction, accommodations and/or interventions.
9.Coordinate with supervisor all necessary testing requirements i.e. schedules, accommodations, alternate assessments, etc.
10.Collect data needed for local, state, and federal reports, as necessary.
11.Assess students’ progress, expectations, and goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, administration, and/or for the purpose of developing remediation plans.
12.Inform parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
13.Conduct parent-teacher conferences.
14.Respond to parent communication in a timely manner.
15.Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
16.Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
17.Recommend policies, procedures, and instructional enhancements essential to the Early Childhood Preschool Program.
18.Consult with nurse, psychologists, speech/language pathologist, audiologist, and other specialists working with the students, and keeps supervisor abreast of all issues and/or concerns as it pertains to the students.
19.Organize physical space of classroom for effective instruction.
20.Keep records of attendance, progress, and all other records pertinent to the program, and align all record-keeping with the Fairfield County ESC procedures and the Ohio Department of Education Early Childhood Program Compliance Requirements.
21.Maintain, oversee, and recommend repair or purchase of specialized learning equipment for use by faculty and students.
22.Understand positive behavior and best practices for improving academic and behavior outcomes for all students.
23.Enhance professional growth and study through activities of professional organizations, enrollment in university level classes, and personal investigation of current literature pertaining to children with disabilities.
24.Attend in-service training sessions, as assigned by Fairfield County ESC Supervisor or Superintendent/Designee.
25.Adhere to the Ohio Department of Education Preschool Licensing Regulations and Procedures.
26.Comply with policies and procedures established by the Fairfield County ESC and the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.

5.Occasional interaction with aggressive, disruptive, and unruly children, and may need to assist with behavior modification.
6.Occasional interruption of duties by staff and/or telephone.
7.Occasionally required to assist and lift children with mobility, medical, and physical needs, and occasionally assist with getting children on and off transportation vehicles.
8.Supplemental contracts or compensation may be awarded by the district for additional duties and responsibilities, at their discretion.
