What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeping Aide position at Pickersgill, Inc?
Job Objectives
Under the supervision of the Director of Housekeeping, the Aide provides residents and staff with a clean, safe environment in which to live and work through the effective and efficient performance of assigned housekeeping tasks.
Job Standards
1. Able to read, write, speak and understand English.
2. Adhere to departmental dress code.
3. High School Diploma, or equivalent, preferred.
Job Functions (* connotes function essential to the job).
* 1. Perform daily/scheduled housekeeping assignments throughout the facility following established policies and procedures. Clean assigned areas, furnishings & fixtures including, but not limited to:
a. Dry/wet mop, sweep and disinfect floors.
b. Dust, spot clean, wash, disinfect and polish movable and stationary furnishings/fixtures including handrails, ledges, shelves and vents.
c. Empty and clean ash trays and waste cans.
d. Vacuum.
e. Clean and inspect refrigerators daily for temperatures and defrosting.
f. Clean and disinfect resident and public bathrooms including fixtures, tile, floors, walls, toilets, tubs, showers, windows, mirrors and sinks; replenish bathroom supplies.
* 2. Work effectively with residents, staff and supervisors.
* 3. Properly maintain supplies and equipment notifying supervisor of needs/malfunctions.
* 4. Clean equipment daily. Maintain clean/sanitary conditions in assigned areas following disinfecting techniques and infection control policies.
* 5. Attend in-service training.
*6. Operate equipment (vacuum) with minimal supervision.
* 7. Maintain a positive, pleasant attitude. Treat residents with respect and courtesy.
8. Notify supervisor when appliances need repair.
*9. Perform emergency cleaning when accidents occur.
*10. Help out in laundry as required.
*11. Other duties as assigned.
Work Setting/Environment
The housekeeping aide works inside the facility in well lighted, ventilated areas with frequent resident contact. Routinely uses chemicals and detergents. May be exposed to blood and body fluids.

Vacuum, mop
Physical requirements
1. Able to stand/stoop/reach for extended periods of time.
2. Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
3. Able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
Mental Requirements
1. Able to remember verbal and written tasks for an 8 hour shift.
2. Able to concentrate on minimal detail with some interruptions.
Hours of Work
Full time 37 ½ hour/week. Overtime as needed.

Employee Responsibility in an Emergency:
Able to respond to fire system and follow emergency procedures. All employees need to respond to emergency situations immediately and capably for the safety of residents and staff.
