What are the responsibilities and job description for the MSD Coordinator position at Pickersgill, Inc?
*Pickersgill is looking a full-time MDS Coordinator. This is a salaried position for a 35 bed skilled facility.
*Must be an R.N. licensed to practice nursing in the State of Maryland.
*Previous experience in Computer MDS/MMDS preferred.
*Sincere interest in working with the elderly; knowledge and understanding of the aging process and the aged.
*Able to read, write, speak and understand English.
5. Possess current CPR certification.
* 1. Analyze nursing care needs of residents and write appropriate care plans enabling staff to provide personalized nursing care.
* 2. Implement and coordinate MDS/MMDS program to be in compliance with State and Federal regulations. Review and revise MDS/MMDS procedures annually.
* 3. Set up monthly Care Plan schedule.
* 4. Participate in nursing committees and meetings as needed. Update knowledge and skills by participation in seminars, workshops and other continuing education activities.
* 5. Work cooperatively and tactfully with residents, staff, family, Administration, DON, and consultants.
* 6. Ensure initial and ongoing care plans are up to date and accurate.
* 7. Transmit MDS information to the State within the compliant time frame.
* 8. Maintain current knowledge of resident status that needs to be reflected in MDS.
* 9. Facilitate medical assistance review, assuring appropriate documentation for residents’ level of care and appropriate reimbursement with the assistance of the DON.
*10. Complete ADL coding audits relating to MDS completion and compliance. Forward audits to Administrator and Director of Nursing for review and action. DON will report audit results to the Q.AP.I. Committee quarterly.
*11. Participates as a member of the nursing team to implement care plans as generated CAA protocol.
*12. Pull, review and ensure accuracy of the 672 and 802 on a monthly basis (communicate with DON on any discrepancies first). Provide Administrator and Executive Director with accurate reports monthly.
