- Area Management in high volume restaurants is preferred. This is a growth opportunity with many stores opening in the region.
Here is our detailed description of the Area Manager Position :
Purpose and Mission
The AM is the direct line of contact between the franchisee owner, their stores, and Pickleman’s Franchising. The purpose of the AM is to assist the owner and their employees in executing Pickleman’s systems, and to give immediate feedback, positive and negative, through the “see it, say it” attitude. An AM should always be assisting the General Manager during Peak Periods and ready to jump in and assist or demonstrate proper technique. An AM should work through the management / ownership to the staff. The goal is employee development through constant feedback, follow up, and reinforcement of Pickleman’s systems. An AM should be working through an action plan at all times striving to achieve the results listed in the action plan.
Progression
An Area Manager answers directly to the store’s owner on a daily schedule.Range
An Area Manager should live in the market and within 20 minutes of a majority ofassigned stores.Uniform
Clean Pickleman’s collared shirt. Clean, well kept blue jeans, khaki shorts, or pants.Athletic style shoes. AM should be ready to make food and have a hat readily available.Facial hair should be kept neatly trimmed.Training
To be done at a training store to be determined. Typical shifts from 8am to 6 pm, 9am to 7pm, and 5pm to 3am. Initial training will last up to 6 weeks and be conducted inbetween Omaha, NE and Lincoln, NE. After completion of initial training, an AM will work for a minimum of 6 months and up to one year as the General Manager at a
designated location before the position will be fully assigned. During this time, an AM in training can expect a monthly evaluation to track progress and determine if AM is ready
and qualified to become a full AM. After completion of the store management phase of training, an AM can expect to shadow the Owner and a Corporate Area Representative
for 1 month in their assigned market.
Special events :
Mainly during football season and the College World Series, all management personnel in operations may be required to work on Fridays, Saturdays, and nights. Other special events may require you to work as part of your scheduled work week.Emergency situations :
In the event that an emergency arises in a store, you may be required to work in a particular location for 4 or 5 days per week for a few weeks to a few months. The Area Manager is in charge of every store and all operations; therefore this person is the last line of defense and will need to cover any shift necessary, under any circumstance. Wewill need to operate the location until we are able to find a suitable solution to maintain our operating standards.
Store openings :
An AM plays an important role in providing opening support for new Pickleman’s locations in the market. Providing opening support is required for all new store openings for a period of 10 consecutive days. It is our goal to have the opening support be shared between two or more management personnel. You may be required to travel to and stay at this location for up to 10 days if further than 1 hour from Omaha.Typical work day and expectations :
DAILY
Usually 6 to 8 hours, coaching, team building, auditing, marketing, otherwise involved in operations / training / development of market locations and its management and staff.Usually 2 hours to complete reports / well / betters / action plansUsually about 1 hour for follow up phone calls regarding action plans which you are helping your team execute, and or other expense reports / planning and organizing your work schedule and objectives and tactics.Be present in a store during all scheduled times except with approval by ownerExecution of Area Manager daily logA minimum of 3 phone calls to other stores when not presentWEEKLY
