Job Description:

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to lead our finance and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong technical background, capable of driving financial performance and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning and Analysis:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements and monthly cash flow reporting.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Administer company benefit programs including 401K, Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Workers' Compensation, AFLAC, and all other benefit programs.
  • Manage Relationships for company insurance, CPA, and banking.
  • Oversee payroll, HR reporting, and compliance.
  • Oversee all company insurance reporting
  • Oversee annual bank audit
  • Analyze and provide financial statements ready for annual review.
  • Accounting and Reporting:
  • Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Prepare and file tax returns promptly and accurately in coordination with CPA.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls.
  • Assess customer credit limits and provide leadership with receivables management.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance and accounting professionals.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop talent.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Operational Finance:
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and reduce costs.
  • Oversee cash flow management and treasury functions.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, including fraud, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Implement robust risk management procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CMA preferred).
  • 10 years of relevant experience as a Controller in a consumer products company.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software and systems (e.g., ERP, budgeting tools).
  • Microsoft GP or Cavallo/Salespad experience preferred.
  • Experience in ADP Workforce Now or similar HR and payroll software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced level proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong attention to accuracy.

Reports to: CEO

Location: Moorpark, CA 93021

Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Monday- Friday

Start Date: March 2025

Salary: $120K - $140K depending on experience

Employee Type: Salaried, exempt, full-time, hybrid (3 days in office)
