Description : RESPONSIBLE FOR :
Responsible for handling the instruments,supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operationsperformed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Deliveryunit. He / she has an understanding of the procedure being performedand anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He / she has the necessaryknowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during theoperative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance ofthe sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the directionof a registered nurse.
Qualifications :
MINIMUM EDUCATIONREQUIRED :
High School diploma or GEDequivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED :
Graduate from a Surgical Technologisttraining program OR has oneyear previous operating room experienceas a Surgical / Delivery Room Technologist OR three years ofexperience providing direct patient care in a clinicalsetting.
MINIMUMLICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW :
BLSrequired.
ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS :
NRP is preferred.
Preferred completion of a fetal monitoring workshop andan orientation to learn surgical asepsis.
