Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician II at Piedmont Candy Co. supports our facility’s electro-mechanical maintenance efforts with advanced skills in either mechanical power transmission and fabrication or electrical systems and process control. Ideal candidates will have specialized knowledge and hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: PLC/Electric, Fabrication, Pneumatics, or Servo Motors. This role requires performing preventive, predictive, and diagnostic maintenance and repairs on equipment, including but not limited to motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machinery, electrical machines, and control systems. Candidates should be able to interpret diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and engineering specifications, and be capable of troubleshooting malfunctions while knowing when to escalate complex issues. Advanced mechanical skills with basic electrical or process control knowledge, or advanced electrical skills with basic mechanical or process control knowledge, are essential. The ability to interpret schematics, as well as diagnose and resolve intermediate to advanced technical issues, is required.
Essential Functions:
- Under minimal supervision, performs a combination of advanced and basic mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance work according to PCC standards ensuring the highest quality of work and that each step is fully executed.
- Perform advanced mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance tasks according to PCC standards, ensuring the highest quality and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Diagnose equipment failures promptly and make necessary repairs.
- Utilize intermediate troubleshooting techniques for mechanical, electrical, and control system issues, including motor windings, relay logic, and mechanical components.
- Conduct intermediate-level mechanical or electrical installations and repairs.
- Participate in safety committees, training, and ensure adherence to all safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Weld, burn, and solder materials as needed.
- Possess the ability to instruct and support less experienced maintenance team members in maintenance practices.
- Work flexible schedules, including weekends, as required by production needs.
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or maintenance engineering technology preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- 6 years (or 4 years with a preferred degree) of light industrial maintenance experience, with demonstrated expertise in one of the following specializations: PLC/Electric, Fabrication, Pneumatics, or Servo Motors.
Required Skills, Abilities and/or Licensure:
- Advanced expertise in power transmission, fabrication, or industrial electrical systems.
- Intermediate skills in mechanical, electrical, or process control troubleshooting.
- Ability to perform intermediate mechanical or electrical installations.
- Fundamental maintenance-related teaching skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to follow instructions for routine procedures and operate standard equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively across all levels of management.
- Time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and analysis to provide effective solutions.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, operation manuals, and create schematic diagrams.
- Strong knowledge of motor control methods and the ability to work with PLC, pneumatic, or servo motor systems.
