Piedmont Healthcare is recruiting for a full-time Palliative Care Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work at our Piedmont Augusta Hospital.
In this role, your essential functions will be:
- Serve as an advanced practice nurse/physician assistant in palliative care
- Collect and analyze all medical information (assessment, screening, diagnostic testing results, and prognostic indicators); develop diagnosis and treatment care plan for patient/family.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and dictation of inpatient medical records.
- Participate in the advanced care planning and education of patients, families, and the community.
- Promote clinical competency through interdisciplinary education for staff related to the service
- Serves as a consultant to the nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers
- Perform planning, contracts, public education, and ethics functions.
- Provide information to palliative physicians engaged in consultations for hospitalized patients needing acute palliative or hospice palliative care.
- Communicate with patient, family, palliative care interdisciplinary team, and other health care team members.
- Collaborate with attending physicians, hospital staff, consultants, palliative physicians, and hospice medical directors regarding patient care, treatments, and services.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of nursing experience in the specialty area of internal medicine/palliative care or ICU experience with demonstrated clinical competence. Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy, mission, and objectives of palliative and end-of-life care. Ability to articulate the concepts of palliative care to diverse audiences.
Minimum Education/Licensure Required:
PA: Graduate of a Physician Assistants program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board and Licensure as a Physician's Assistant by the National Board of Medical Examiners

NP: Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing
