The primary responsibility of the academic advisor is to help students develop academic advising plans and identify support services. The position involves advising students about courses, academic progress, and assisting them in making educational and personal decisions related to graduation and career aspirations. The advisor will provide holistic advising services informed by the latest research and best practices.

Essential DutiesCoordinate advising plans for students.Serve as the initial point of contact for students through the entire onboarding process. Collaborate with program coordinators for current program information. Coordinate referral process for students having difficulties using the early alert system Aviso. Track contact with students through Aviso. Participate in the delivery of student services in a cross-function team approach. Advise students about the content and structure of postsecondary programs including graduation and/or transfer requirements for a particular program of study. Audit, monitor, and evaluate students' academic progress. Provide intrusive counseling, proactive case management services through ongoing contact, and follow-up with assigned students. Coordinate referrals to available college and community services as needed to assist students in achieving academic success. Monitor student progress toward goal completion. Identify key points of student attrition. Maintain a high level of confidentiality while handling student information through the use of tact, discretion, and in compliance with FERPA.Empower assigned caseload of students to effectively communicate with faculty and student development and become better connected to resources and support services.Advise students with a continuous focus on degree progress and personal wellness. Interpret testing results relevant to placement decisions and determine student readiness for college programs. Build rapport and trust with students, serve as an information center, and direct students to the appropriate resources. Assist students in the development of an educational plan including choosing a program of study and/or clarifying educational goals.Submit monthly activity reports as requested.
